MUSEUM ANGEWANDTEKUNST FRANKFURT
The Museum as a Space of Discovery: Design, Fashion and the Performative As a vibrant space of discovery the Museum Angewandte Kunst focuses on the awareness of social trends and developments within the fields of design, the performative and fashion. Against the backdrop of its prominent collections – European crafts from the twelfth to the twenty-first centuries, design, book art and graphic art as well as Islamic and East Asian art – it aims to make the hidden visible and create relationships between events and stories revolving around objects. The changing exhibitions recount tales of cultural values and changing living conditions. Beyond that, they make continual reference to the question of what applied art is today and can be.
The architecture of the Museum Angewandte Kunst was designed by Richard Meier. In 1985, he created an ensemble integrating the surrounding park, the v illa and the new museum building. Since its reopening in April 2013, an event that went hand in hand with the restoration of the architecture to its original splendour, the Museum Angewandte Kunst has been conceived as a space of possibility, a realm for s ensory thought and experience, and a platform for research and negotiation, for discussion, cooperation and participation. ♦♦♦ _________________________________________________ Pierre Claeyssens Veterans Foundation and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1649 Pay Tribute at Free Memorial Day Ceremony Annual Memorial Day Ceremony The Condor Squadron The Pierre Claeyssens Veterans Foundation (PCVF) and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1649 honored those who gave the greatest sacrifice for their country at their annual Memorial Day ceremony.
